10.    11 STEPS TO ROTARY MEMBERSHIP

1 The prospective member is invited to a club meeting.

        The cost of this is met by the club

2 The prospective member is invited to attend further meetings of the club at his/her expense.

3 In due course the prospect is invited to join the club

4 The prospects name is submitted to the Secretary on the official proposal card.

5 The proposal is referred by the Secretary to the clubs membership and classification committees.

6 The proposal is submitted to the board after endorsement by those committees.

7 The proposal is approved by the board and the proposeris advised by the Secretary.

8 The proposer and a member of the Clubs Rotary information committee then inform the prospective member of the

        privileges and responsibility of Rotary membership. This is best done in the prospects home with his/her partner present.

9 The prospect is asked to complete the membership proposal card and give permission for his/her name to be placed

10 The prospects name is presented to the club and if no detailed objections are received in writing by the board within 7 days the prospect          can be inducted into membership after paying the prescribed fees .

11 The new members name is advised to the General Secretary of Rotary International on the official form

 

NOTE: It is important for the proposer to ensure that the new members partner or a family member is present at the induction and that transport to and from the venue is arranged.

The proposer should also ensure that a small gift has been arranged for the new members partner/family member and that the new member has prepared a short address to present to the club after his/her induction.
